Packaging.

Designed the packaging labels for my skulls lastnight. The same basic format as my gun packaging (which I've only used once because I've only sold one since I started making it, haha). Just trying them out to see how they'll look. I couldn't decide if I wanted to use blue or yellow but I definitely prefer the yellow.

Calaveras pt. 3

The black one is made with glitter felt, but some of the glitter is starting to fall off. They should make it stick better. It has silver lamé backing and eyes. It's a gift and I thought these colors might suit the recipient better than one of the other ones.

Calaveras pt. 2

Another 8 hours of sewing under my belt.

I made 5 more sugar skull plushes, plus this last one. I decided to try my hand at something a little more complicated with this design. I still don't really know how to embroider, but it came out pretty well, I think! I can't even DRAW a rose, let alone embroider one without any sort of patter to follow, but it's at least somewhat recognizable.

Going to do at least 4 more today, but I only got 3 hours of sleep, so I should consider a nap. And housework.

11 Calaveras.

Also known as A Sure-Fire Method of Insuring Your Fingers Never Ever Work Again, Ever.

I spent the better part of 14 or so hours sewing these between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning. I was originally going to sew 3-5, which turned into 10, which turned into an extra one (#11) for my sister who wanted to steal the first five I had completed.

MAIL from MEL!

I received this amazing package from the incredible Mel Stringer today. I told her the idea of making a zine intimidates me, so she sent me one of hers hoping it would inspire me. Mel's work ALWAYS inspires me, but hopefully with this added boost of confidence I'll be able to make one of my own.

Some of my favorite pages from her latest zine. I would highly recommend buying one for yourself!

Old Timer's Day.

The people in costume were absolutely my favorite part because they seemed so surreal and out-of-place walking around. I wanted to get shots of them that looked like they were everyday people.

I wanted to get more pictures of kids with their faces painted, but I was afraid of looking like a pedo taking pictures of little kids I don't know.

I'll make another post dedicated to the Outhouse Races after a while.

Great Scot, indeed!

My magazine came in the mail yesterday. What a lovely thing to have on the table next to my bed.

Today is a Doctor Who marathon leading up the the series 5 [BBC America] premiere with Matt Smith as The Doctor. I'm pretty sure I'm going to like Matt Smith, but I will certainly miss David Tennant.

Favorite Scottish Men of the Moment (in no particular order and off the top of my head): James McAcoy, David Tennant, Craig Ferguson, Paolo Nutini, Gordon Ramsay, John Barrowman.

Today is Old Timer's Day here in podunk. OUTHOUSE RACES are in less than 2 hours. Hopefully I'll get a few pictures for those of you who have never seen an outhouse race, and no, it's not people racing to a porta-potty, though I'm sure there will be plenty of that going on today.

It's also Record Store Day. Roswell is actually surprisingly participating so after the race we'll be attending to see if there's anything worth buying. Then tonight we'll be whipping up a peanut butter cake, then it's Doctor Who and The Graham Norton Show.

More crafting.

Someone said they'd pay me to make them a kitty finger puppet. I really don't think money is necessary, to be perfectly honest.

This is where I make my magic messes.

This sums up today.

Cinnamon dino-toast.

I love getting mail.

Especially mail with doodles and dinosaurs.

And the Steve Harrington dunny I ordered. So gorgeous.

I was hoping my Jame McAvoy Nylon Guys would be here today as well, but hopefully by Saturday.

Allons-y, Alonzo!

And I'm not remotely ashamed.

Well, okay. Maybe a LITTLE bit...but only of how terrible I am at embroidering! It's a...something case.

"It's bigger on the inside..."

Spent all day watching Doctor Who and then my evening painting this tiny little thing and a terracotta pot to plant my cacti in.

Faren Bearowitz VS. The Blank Canvas

This, unfortunately, is a battle I tend to always lose!

I purchased one of these little acrylic sets for both my mother and myself lastnight. Sadly, I have absolutely no ideas of what to paint. I've been trying to get back into painting for months...or wanting to rather, but just can't seem to come up with any ideas.

Wish me luck!

Only the necessities.

Just as I said, knowing my luck the bookstore either would never have gotten the James McAvoy issue of Nylon Guys or would have actually changed out their magazines on time. They didn't have ANY issues, therefore I'm going with the former guess.

I did, however pick up some necessary items.

Then I went home and promptly purchased the magazine on eBay and subscribed to Netflix and have been binging on Doctor Who until the new series premieres this coming Saturday. I fear I've become slightly obsessed.

Candy.

I love this man. I love this song. I love this video.
I want a Scottish boy.

Not for girls? Pfffft!

I find it highly ironic that Nylon Guys says "not for girls" in the O.

If it wasn't for girls they would not put people who look like James McAvoy on the front of their magazine looking like...THAT.

I need this magazine in my life, but it's the Feb/March issue which means it's not on shelves anymore. I'm hoping it might still be at our highly inefficient bookstore, however. They don't seem to keep this magazine up-to-date. Knowing my luck they either never got it in or actually switched out a magazine when it was time for once.

If it's not there...there's always eBay ;)

Studio...?

I've wanted to turn this little apartment into a studio for a really long time. I've been putting it off because I don't want to live here forever, but I decided I wanted it to be a studio about 3 or more years ago and could have been using it ever since.

Lately, however, I've been considering it more seriously, but it needs a lot of work.

Plenty of space for a studio.

Has a kitchen area with a sink. The cabinets will come in handy. The sink (and bathroom which is right across from the kitchen) would too, but there is no working plumbing.

There's a decent closet.

This area (on the other side of the skeleton partition) is where I want to put my desk. I've considered turning the partition into a bookshelf or turning it back into a wall.

My cousins took it upon themselves to graffiti the place up at some point while we weren't living in this house.

Easter!

The Easter Bunny brought me these crayons. The wrappers are friggin' adorable!

One of the boxes (he brought me 2) had this sweet prawn on it!

I made burgers for dinner. Chorizo-beef burgers with pepperjack cheese, and homemade chipotle mayo (well, semi-homemade. I plan to learn to make my own though!). Then we sat down to eat dinner and watch the new episode of Ultimate Recipe Showdown and one of the contestants made the exact. same. burger!

My mom was looking at my cup during dinner. Thought they came that way. It's cute how talented she thinks I am.

I spent most of the day cleaning the house and cooking (and breaking my "diet" by eating Easter candy)...and watching my Sunday Night "fat shows" (Kirstie Alley's Big Life and Ruby). I'm exhausted. Time to snuggle down in my bed.

Easter Eggs-cellent!!

I'm not a normal girl at all.
