Ed Emberley

I love Ed Emberley's illustrations, so of course I double love them when they consist of birds and owls. I'm sort of craving getting that little one on the perch as a tattoo, but I'm so indecisive about things that are permanent, haha.
I love these serious little fellows right here as well.

Been looking at his artwork all day trying to draw inspiration from his work for an ad I'm putting way too much effort into. I know that putting a lot of effort into my work is a GOOD thing, but 9/10 times the ones I work the hardest on don't get used and I don't paid enough for this, haha.

What I Wore Today - 11/10/10

Skinny Jeans
  • Black tank top
  • $5 crystal necklace from the UFO festival
  • Men’s plaid shirt (that was too uncomfortable so I changed into my turquoise cardigan)
  • Moccasins
  • Peace belt
  • Braided headband that won’t stay on my head
  • Hair that I took the time to “fix” and no one even noticed

I look like an old hippie. And old MAN hippie.

What I Wore Today - 11/5/10 & 11/6/10

  • New peace sign belt
  • New “jeggings” because my other pair of jeans ripped
  • Leopard print shoes
  • $2 tank top
  • “Where’s Waldo”/Bob Dylan sweater from Seattle

I was worried about wearing this to work because I didn’t want any remarks about looking patriotic. I wore it anyway because “technically it’s orange”…unfortunately I was greeted the moment I walked in with “You look so patriotic today!” To which I replied “It’s orange.”

  • Gray and black striped cardigan
  • Turquoise polka-dot tank top ($3)
  • Denim leggings
  • Leopard shoes
  • Owl bling ($10)

Looked and felt like crap today, but…meh. I actually wore a belt half the day, too. And I don’t know how often I’ll wear that necklace. It weighs like 10 pounds and doesn’t really make the screwed up nerves and muscles in my neck feel great.

Giving today the bird.

Yesterday and several parts of today deserved the bird. Two even.

Josh & Genevieve

Yesterday was Josh and Genevieve's 1 year anniversary.
She wanted to make a coloring book to give to him and asked people to contribute.

What I Wore Today - 9/22/10

My outfit wasn't too impressive. I was too busy dying of kidney pain and having dirty hair.
  • Purple and gray rose tunic with crochet-y sleeves
  • Blue skinny jeans
  • Moccasins

What I Wore Today - 9/16/10

I wish I did these more often but I get too lazy to keep up with this sort of stuff!

  • Dark blue skinny jeans
  • Zombie flats
  • Yellow Roswell Daily Record shirt with one of Keith's illustrations
  • New gray puffed-sleeve cardigan. I call it my Lady Gaga cardigan
  • Black silver and enamel sugar skull pin
  • Yellow lucite peace sign pin
  • Clear lens glasses with black-clear ombre frames
  • Purple bow headband
I forgot to draw my necklace and I had on some friendship bracelets as well.

Keith Bell Wins At Life!

I work at a desk right next from the cartoonist for the newspaper, who also happens to be an ex-instructor of mine from college. We've always gotten along really well and, not to toot my own horn, I've always been one of his favorite students. We recently had a conversation about a monkey trophy which turned into an inside joke. I looked for an actual monkey trophy for him, but the only one I can find costs too much for me right now, so I drew him this lastnight and left it on his desk.

He was really excited about it today and hung it on his wall next to a bunch of prints of his from the paper. My artwork pales in comparison to his, but it's still really awesome.

Daily Drawings: Note To Self

Left myself a note before bed so I wouldn't forget what I needed to take to work.
Tuna - for the third day in a row because I don't really know what to eat with my diabetes yet.
Whole Wheat Crackers - To eat with my tuna cos I'm not really supposed to have bread
The rest of the Guinness Cake - so it won't rot in my kitchen
3 bottles of water - because my place of employment only sells sodas. The two I put in the fridge got stolen. WTF co-workers?!

Another coloring page

It's supposed to be a knock-off TMNT, not a real one.

It's Been A While (Doodle Portraits)

Haven't done one of these in what feels like ages. Actually it feels like I did one fairly recently, but I don't think I did, haha. Yes I did, I just hated it.

Pizza Crew Coloring Page

Illustration/Coloring Page I made for Jazzy's Pizza Crew. My Pizza Crew name is Mona Pizza.

Go, Pizza, Go, Pizza, Go!

Tea For Two

Silly little doodle done with a tea-loving friend in mind.

In Moleskine We Trust

This is the cover of the moleskine I use to balance my money in so I don't wake up one day, broke, and can't remember where all of my money went!

Is there a such thing as CRAFTERNITY LEAVE?

It's high school all over again. Why should the pregnant girls get special treatment? Pregnant women in the workplace get to take time off for pregnancy, but why don't the rest of us get some sort of special leave for things that are just as important to us?

I don't make babies. I make plushies.

I really think there needs to be a such thing as "crafternity leave", so I can take off a month and a half to sew inventory for Art In The Park in October!
