I had originally wanted to make a "Weasley is Our King!!" one and we really excited to see that Kim included one in her bonus patterns, but chose to redraw it because her design wasn't working for me.
I didn't follow her patterns exactly on a lot of these, but I don't think what I paid to use her patterns was an unfair price to be inspired!
I'll post the finished product probably after Harry Potter tonight! :)

Harry Potter and the Hoops of Embroidery
I bought some Harry Potter patterns from Kim Smith to make embroidered badges to wear to Deathly Hallows tomorrow. I know most people are trying to get into midnight showings, but it's a tradition for my sister and I to go the day it officially opens to the latest show. We got our tickets yesterday afternoon. Going Friday night, however, gives me time to finish these up and get the badges assembled. I am pretty excited!

What I Wore Today - 11/10/10
Skinny Jeans
- Black tank top
- $5 crystal necklace from the UFO festival
- Men’s plaid shirt (that was too uncomfortable so I changed into my turquoise cardigan)
- Moccasins
- Peace belt
- Braided headband that won’t stay on my head
- Hair that I took the time to “fix” and no one even noticed
I look like an old hippie. And old MAN hippie.

What I Wore Today - 11/5/10 & 11/6/10
- New peace sign belt
- New “jeggings” because my other pair of jeans ripped
- Leopard print shoes
- $2 tank top
- “Where’s Waldo”/Bob Dylan sweater from Seattle
I was worried about wearing this to work because I didn’t want any remarks about looking patriotic. I wore it anyway because “technically it’s orange”…unfortunately I was greeted the moment I walked in with “You look so patriotic today!” To which I replied “It’s orange.”
- Gray and black striped cardigan
- Turquoise polka-dot tank top ($3)
- Denim leggings
- Leopard shoes
- Owl bling ($10)
Looked and felt like crap today, but…meh. I actually wore a belt half the day, too. And I don’t know how often I’ll wear that necklace. It weighs like 10 pounds and doesn’t really make the screwed up nerves and muscles in my neck feel great.
File under: Things I Need in My Life
Cannot express how much I adore stuff like this. I need these ESPECIALLY when I go to Target where people are notorious for making up their own parking places.

Fall Dining Guide Pt. 4
Fall Dining Guide Ads Pt. 3
Or the edition I like to refer to as "The Client From Hell".
I loathe working on ads for Laughing Sheep Farm and Restaurant. Not only does the mere idea of their food make me a little queasy, the owner is a sadist. She hates everything I design. She will tell me it only needs a few changes which, in summation, ends up being the whole ad. She always sends a novel to put in one small ad, and then tells me it's too crowded. She hates the colors I use, etc, etc.
THIS specific ad, I have already redone FIVE TIMES.
If I didn't think it would cost me my job, I'd tell her to stuff it. Or at least tell her that we gladly accept ready-made ads from our clients.

Fall Dining Guide Ads Pt. 1
This guy asked that he have the coolest ad in the new dining guide....
Not sure I achieved that, but I still think it's pretty cool.
The original was shot at night so it didn't have a ton of color in it. I went ahead and made it black and white, added a golden color to the windows and their light on the sidewalk. Made the sign neon green because he likes the neon green of his menus, and added some stars, etc.

Keith Bell Wins At Life!
I work at a desk right next from the cartoonist for the newspaper, who also happens to be an ex-instructor of mine from college. We've always gotten along really well and, not to toot my own horn, I've always been one of his favorite students. We recently had a conversation about a monkey trophy which turned into an inside joke. I looked for an actual monkey trophy for him, but the only one I can find costs too much for me right now, so I drew him this lastnight and left it on his desk.
He was really excited about it today and hung it on his wall next to a bunch of prints of his from the paper. My artwork pales in comparison to his, but it's still really awesome.

Productive Day At Work
Searching the internet at work for yarn pictures for ideas for an ad. Came up with a whole lot of great stuff I can't use, but is fun to look at!
Alas these images remind me of how undproductive I'm being in my own crafting life. I have about a month to secure my booth for the craft fair and about the same amount of time to produce ALL of my inventory. I just want to curl up like the kitten in the last picture!
For the rest of the week I need to focus on making 16 calaveras. (That's just this week's task)

Crafting update 2
I managed to get the rest done today. I don't know about the one in front though. I've been having a tough time with embroidering the Ziggy Stardust ones. The one I made for this customer came out terrible, so I made one with felt lightning but I don't know if I can sell the customer on it. Hope so. Much cleaner-looking. For the most part they look better than some of my old ones, but it's been so long since I've sewn any. Now I have to figure out how much merchandise to make for the art fair.
Crafting update.
I got my first sort-of complaint on etsy yesterday. I had some customers order some things a few weeks ago and I haven't had the time or energy to get them out. I now know why I've been so exhausted the past few months, but it's still going to be a few more days before I can get in to see a doctor and get things straightened out, but I've had a wee bit more energy since I found out and have been trying to do my best to eat right. Still tired but I don't want to lose customers over it. I've got 3 of 7 done so far.
I also just went through my embroidery floss for the first time in months because it was a huge mess and I couldn't find half of the colors I needed. Looks like a lot but I'm still missing a few colors, or at least running low on some. Going to have to take a trip to the craft store on pay day.

WTF SHOULD I DO WITH MY LIFE?
I think this website is adorable, but I had to click "hell no!" like 4billion times to get this one.
Daily Drawings: Note To Self
Left myself a note before bed so I wouldn't forget what I needed to take to work.
Tuna - for the third day in a row because I don't really know what to eat with my diabetes yet.
Whole Wheat Crackers - To eat with my tuna cos I'm not really supposed to have bread
The rest of the Guinness Cake - so it won't rot in my kitchen
3 bottles of water - because my place of employment only sells sodas. The two I put in the fridge got stolen. WTF co-workers?!

Sun Sign. Moon Sign.
SUN SIGN - PISCESAlso unassuming, the Pisces zodiac signs and meanings deal with acquiring vast amounts of knowledge, but you would never know it. They keep an extremely low profile compared to others in the zodiac. They are honest, unselfish, trustworthy and often have quiet dispositions. They can be overcautious and sometimes gullible. These qualities can cause the Pisces to be taken advantage of, which is unfortunate as this sign is beautifully gentle, and generous. In the end, however, the Pisces is often the victor of ill circumstance because of his/her intense determination. They become passionately devoted to a cause – particularly if they are championing for friends or family.
MOON SIGN - SNOW MOON
Much like your brothers and sisters of the Wolf Moon tribe, you are no stranger to hard work. Many of you had incredibly challenging childhoods, and have overcome insurmountable odds. These circumstances can make you see the world as a harsh place, sometimes you may even be critical or jaded about people and the world. This does not make you blind to beauty, however and you appreciate physical beauty - particularly in nature. Flowers, trees, animals will all sing sweetly to you and carry you to other worlds where you can escape. Your life lesson is about escaping into these natural worlds more often & letting go of the cold hard facts of reality.

Tell me about it, stud.
My friend Halle sent me a switchblade comb in the mail. I can't even describe how excited I was when I saw it.
Immediately went into greaser mode. This picture got a lot of attention...positive attention. I was trying to be silly, but apparently this is a good look for me. The funniest part about the whole ordeal is how shocked people seemed to be by my appearance...

Craftastrophe
I feel like it's been months since I've been able to sit down and craft. While that's not entirely true, it's somewhat accurate. I started my job in July and since then I haven't really had a whole lot of time, or energy, to sit down and sew.
I have something like 20 orders to fill, or at least 20 or so items to make, plus I have goodness knows how much to get done for the county fair and for the arts and crafts fair I'm selling at in October. Deadline for the fair is the end of September, and I'm only submitting a few things, but I will need to restock completely on merchandise for the arts and crafts thing in October which will take me pretty much the whole month of September if not longer.
NOW my boss is thinking about trying to get me to work full-time a loooot sooner than she had originally planned. When-oh-when will I fit all of this into my life? Why can't I make enough from sewing to quit my job?!

Talk Nerdy To Me
If you're on Tumblr, there's a good chance you've seen the meme going around the past several hours of topless, bespectacled, babes and babe-ettes inspired by a few friends of mine.
I did one earlier today with my Elvis cookbook, but since it was so spur of the moment, it wasn't my favorite picture of myself. Thought I'd put a slightly more sultry picture out there promoting how sexy designerds can be. And what's sexier than a girl with a copy of Hand Job? ;)

Mi Vida Logo (Honey Depot).
Even though I turned in the ad yesterday, and I'm pretty sure it's going to be liked by the business based on Christina's reaction, I got a random idea for this design earlier this afternoon. Haven't done much of anything today. I just got done re-designing an ad for a business I hear is very particular about their design. They've apparently been using the same ad for a really long time and I basically did the exact opposite...as per my boss's request... we'll see. I'm just glad that as a designer I don't have to deal with the public and that everyone I work with seems to think I'm ridiculously talented, haha. :)
